Our OBU President is known for saying, “The sun never sets on Bison Hill!” That is, OBU students literally serve around the globe. In Baptist university circles, it is known that OBU has had more of its graduates appointed by the International Mission Board (IMB) than any other university.

The Cross-Cultural Ministry program of Oklahoma Baptist University provides biblical and theological foundations for cross-cultural ministry and missions both in North American and International Contexts.

What makes an OBU Cross-Cultural Ministry degree special?

Whether or not students choose an International Church Planting, Orality or Cross-Cultural Ministry emphasis, they will discover that the academic rigor as well as the opportunity for practical application, inside and outside the classroom, prepare them to be effective in making disciples of all nations. The CCM degrees are built on the foundation of Jesus Christ, the Word of God incarnate. Each course then builds on that foundation through the integration of biblical and theological truth with truth found in various other disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, history, communications, etc.  Add to this the opportunity for personal mentoring relationships with faculty members that come to the classroom not only with academic credentials but also with years of ministry experience in the US and abroad, then one discovers that the CCM degree provides a unique, yet comprehensive, approach that combines academic preparation, spiritual development and field experience.

What can I do with a Cross-Cultural Ministry degree?

This degree prepares students to:

  • serve in ministry directly after college
  • serve in missions directly after college
  • go to graduate school or seminary with the goal of teaching

Students studying toward the CCM degree also have the opportunity to pursue the 4+1 option. This allows students to earn the BA degree in CCM and the Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies in just five years. Because of OBU’s unique relationship with the IMB, students who complete the 4+1 option meet the educational requirements for career appointment.
