This one year top-up course is designed for qualified and registered midwives with a DipAdvanced, CertHE or DipHE qualification (who have engaged in credited CPD studies following qualification), to gain an undergraduate degree. The topics studied are broad and will equip already practising midwives the underpinning knowledge to expand their skills, their practice and career opportunities.

As a qualified midwife in practice you will have the opportunity to study clinical and/or professional practice-related inquiry methods in order to engage in clinical and/or healthcare practice and/or organisational development.

What will you gain?

As well as developing your critical thinking and decision making, you will also gain the ability to reflect and analyse your own performance. You will have research analysis and evaluating skills and will focus on the facilitation of learning and communication to a range of audiences including students, peers and clients.

General Requirements

Students admitted to this programme must be a:

  • UK Registered Nurse with sufficient credits to meet the entry criteria of 300 credits, of which 60 must be at Level 6. These credits will be pre-accredited onto the degree pathway.
  • The credits may be either from your initial nursing qualification alone e.g. Diploma Advanced in Nursing (or equivalent) or from a combination of your initial nursing qualification and any CPD modules you have completed (the CPD modules normally must be less than five years old).
