During Contour Fashion (Communication) (Hons) at the De Montfort University you will benefit from our extensive industry links with the intimate apparel industry and have the opportunity to work with companies on live projects and competitions. The programme has an optional placement year, with opportunities for international and UK based placements.

Contour Fashion was established at DMU in 1947 and has unparalleled links with the UK and global intimate apparel industry – and this related programme is the only communication course in the UK aimed directly at that industry. It prepares you for career opportunities in marketing, promotion, trend prediction, product development and entrepreneurship.  

Graduate careers

The School of Design produces highly employable graduates, who are acclaimed for their technical skills and design excellence. DMU graduates work for national and international brands such as Calvin Klein New York, Heidi Klein, H&M Sweden, Clover Hong Kong, Bravissimo, Stretchline Sri Lanka, Harvey Nichols, LF Intimates, Ace Style, Tommy Hilfiger Amsterdam, PD China,  Edge’O’Beyond, Emreco, and Quantum.

Graduates completing this course are expected to begin work in trend prediction, business and enterprise, social media or communication.

General Requirements

A good portfolio and normally:

  • Art and Design Foundation or
  • 112 points from at least 2 A ‘levels and including grade C in Art and Design or
  • BTEC Extended Diploma DMM in an Art and Design related subject or
  • International Baccalaureate: 26+ Points including Art and Design

Plus five GCSEs grades 9-4 including English Language or Literature at grade 4 or above.

  • Pass Access with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit in Art and Design and GCSE English (Language or Literature) at grade 4 or above

We will normally require students to have had a break from full time education before undertaking the Access course.

  • We also accept the BTEC First Diploma plus two GCSEs including English Language or Literature at grade 4 or above
