The practice and study of creative writing in many forms—including fiction, poetry, drama, and screenwriting—provides you with an opportunity to refine your unique voice and creativity. Explore mediums for creative expression that will expand your writing horizons. If writing is an important part of your life, this Creative Writing is the minor for you.

The Creative Writing minor will give you the opportunity to participate in an intimate classroom setting with other like-minded writers. The constructive criticism you will get from your peers and professors will be invaluable to your growth as a writer, and you’ll learn how to give helpful advice as well. You can’t write without being a voracious reader, so in addition to the work presented by your fellow students, you’ll be reading poetry and short stories from the masters to help fuel your own work. You will also have the opportunity to meet and listen to writers who visit the campus to give readings of their own work.
