Overview

The Mission of Consumer Services at Carson-Newman University is  to provide a strong, quality undergraduate experience, preparing the individual with the necessary competencies to compete successfully in a global and diverse marketplace in financial and consumer services, hospitality and tourism, non-profits, and government agencies while embracing professional and academic excellence and Christian integrity.

Working in event management, family financial planning, or working as an extension agent are just three potential careers for which the Consumer Services emphasis prepares students. 

At the core of the Family and Consumer Sciences mission is empowering families to handle the dynamics of family life and workplace employment.

Recent graduate employment includes event management positions with country clubs and non-profits, a high-end bed and breakfast house manager, and a marketing manager for a Chick-Fil-A franchise. Alumnae in the area of Consumer Services have furthered their education in the fields of consumer studies and public policy (MS), business administration (MBA), and teacher licensure (MAT).
