Otterbein education students will be prepared for the state requirement of Opioid Abuse Prevention training teachers will need.  The Otterbein Education Department provides speakers, resources, and materials to address this serious crisis afflicting schools and communities.  

About

Otterbein University offers programs to prepare teachers in several settings: Early Childhood (Pre-K through grade 3), Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (Pre-K through grade 3), Middle Childhood (grades 4-9), and Secondary (Adolescent/Young adult, grades 7-12).

Adolescent/Young Adult licenses may be obtained in: Integrated Language Arts, Integrated Science, Integrated Social Studies, Integrated Mathematics, Life Science, Chemistry, and Physics.

A Multi-Age license for Pre-K through grade 12 can be obtained in Music, Art, Spanish, and French (post-bacc only).

Programme Structure

The department also offers both a major and minor in Educational Studies in cooperation with other departments on campus. 

Our mission is to prepare outstanding teachers who can be responsive to the needs of all  students. The pride of our program begins in the first Education course and includes integrated academics and fully-supported field experiences. These high-quality field experience continue throughout the program, so all our students are fully prepared for the student teaching internship.
