Shepherd University and the Department of Business Administration is located in the Shenandoah Valley, on the banks of the Potomac River, in historic Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The oldest town in the state, Shepherdstown is a quaint university community with the town and campus combining to offer a unique learning environment.

About

Our students come from all backgrounds and locations and are invited to choose from a variety of programs housed within our department.  We offer a major in business administration with options in general business, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, and financial planning (all accredited).  Our financial planning program is certified by the CFP Board.  Or perhaps you are interested in one of several business minors.  Our faculty bring both theoretical and practical expertise to their classrooms, and their aim is to mentor and guide you into fulfilling careers.

Shepherd University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE)located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA.  The business programs in the following degrees are accredited by the IACBE:  Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with concentrations in general business, entrepreneurship, financial planning, management, and marketing; and Master of Business Administration degree, with concentrations in general business, accounting, health administration, public management, and sport management.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Admission requirements:

  • Complete the application for admission.
  • Submit the $45 application fee or an approved application fee waiver.
  • Send an official high school transcript or GED to Shepherd.
  • Send your SAT or ACT scores.
  • It is recommended that you submit a personal statement with your application. Personal statements can be typed into the online application, mailed, or emailed.
