The Sports Therapy - Progression (Honours) degree offered by Plymouth Marjon University is intensive and practically driven, with a firm focus on the application of theoretical knowledge. You’ll work on diagnosing and treating sport- and exercise-related injury within our world-class sports therapy facilities.  Our sports therapy students all develop clinical competence and a graduate-level ability to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries and dysfunctions.

The course is fully accredited by the UK Sports Therapy Organisation and, on completion, our graduates are entitled to membership with insurance at the level of Graduate Sports Therapist.

During the course, you’ll work on your academic and practical skills, meaning your approach to sports therapy will involve a blend of theory and evidence-based knowledge

Our wide range of modules includes diagnostic and injury management, exercise rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. Supervised placement hours within the University’s sports therapy and rehabilitation clinic will help students’ development and understanding of pathologies and management of sports injuries through practical experience.

What might you become?

This course prepares students to work as a Sport Therapy professional in a variety of environments. It equips them for careers as clinical demonstrators, as performance specialists with professional sports clubs and governing bodies and as sport therapist specialists in both the private and public sectors, working in sports clubs and sports injury clinics. Our students are also well prepared for a number of roles with the Armed Forces, cardiac and other rehabilitation teams within the National Health Service (NHS).

Graduates from this course have gone on to work in sports therapy clinics, sports teams and into teaching. You’ll also be able to pursue a career in exercise management and rehabilitation or as a physiotherapy assistant.
