Overview

A vast amount of sport development activity is targeted towards young people through school-based initiatives. This exciting programme considers broad sporting themes in community sport, talent development, elite sport, sport coaching, managing sport, marketing sport, sport event management, school sport, sports policy and inclusive sport. 

We ensure that you get great academic and practical experience of both sport development and coaching young people, with a firm focus on school-based sport development. Throughout the course, you’ll be exposed to industry professionals through thought-provoking lectures from guest speakers, practical projects, work placements and inspiring study trips.

You’ll gain ample practical and applied skills in sport development and coaching throughout the programme. You’ll be able to run sport development programmes, organise events, coach, and develop a critical understanding of how sport works, through the programme’s strong academic underpinning. Furthermore, you’ll gain skills and experiences to improve your communication, leadership, and teamwork, along with developing research and evaluation skills.
