Course Overview

We ensure that you get great academic and practical experience. You'll interact with industry professionals through lectures from guest speakers, practical projects, work placements and study trips, and you’ll gain practical and applied skills in the management of sport development throughout the programme. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to run sport development programmes, organise events, and develop a critical understanding of how sport works through the programme’s strong academic underpinning. You’ll gain extensive skills and experience in improving your communication, leadership, and teamwork, as well as developing crucial research and evaluation skills.

The Sport Development - Sport Management (Honours) degree offered by Plymouth Marjon University considers broad sporting themes, at operational and strategic levels, across the public, voluntary and commercial sectors. You’ll study sports marketing, sport event management, sports policy and inclusive sport, and managing community sport and elite sport and you'll get ample opportunities to put what you learn into practice.

By the end of the course you’ll be able to run sport development programmes, organise events, and develop a critical understanding of how sport works through the programme’s strong academic underpinning. A very high proportion of graduates gain immediate employment or enrol on Masters programmes to further their studies.
