At Park University, the Bachelor of Arts in English degree program is designed for students who want to develop critical practices in reading, writing, and thinking – which will lead to creative and humanist responses to literature, life, and intellectual endeavor. No matter what your professional goals are, an English degree can provide you with a skill set applicable to many different career paths.

Location and Learning Options

As a student in our 16-week Bachelor of Arts in English program, you’ll be required to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus. However, our minors in English and Professional and Technical Writing are available either face-to-face or online.

The Bachelor of Arts in English requires a minimum of 122 completed credit hours, including 16 hours of English core curriculum, 9 hours in literature, 9 hours in writing and rhetoric, and 9 hours of approved English electives. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Completed online Park University application form. Please indicate your country of citizenship and country of residence, even if they are the same as the country of birth.
  • Non-refundable application fee of $75.00 paid as part of application form.
  • Application fee includes express I-20 mailing fee if admitted
  • Official or unofficial transcripts from your high school/college. Certified English translations of the transcripts should be provided for transcripts that are in a language other than English. A 2.5 cumulative (overall) GPA is required for full admission.
