Overview
The Ceramics program from Edinboro University emphasizes a comprehensive study of contemporary and historical ceramics with the goal of relating this rich history to our ongoing work in class. At the core, our program is designed to help you develop your individual artistic vision.
Why Edinboro stands out
At Edinboro, we pride ourselves on our 100-year history of instruction in the visual arts and art education. In addition, our Art Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD), which sets national standards for excellence in the field.
Imagine learning about Ceramics alongside a diverse student population studying in a variety of disciplines. You will learn about the variety of techniques available to a ceramic artist including hand-building and wheel-throwing, gas and electric kiln firing, glaze and clay body chemistry, mold making, general design principles, and recent technological possibilities. There will be an emphasis on both group and individual critiques.
There is also a large Master of Fine Arts program in Ceramics, which brings very talented ceramics students from across the nation into our studios. The faculty in this program are professional artists who continue to do research and exhibit their innovative ceramic artwork both regionally and nationally.
There is no portfolio review prior to admission. Just bring your passion for the arts and a desire to work hard in a multidisciplinary, highly supportive environment.
