Learn how to conserve nature's ecosystems and create a sustainable society. Human consumption of our planet's natural resources is a real problem. Air, water and soil pollution. Habitat degradation. Localized overpopulation. Poverty. The growing demand of our nonrenewable natural resources.

As an Environmental Science degree student at Lewis, you will study the interactions of the biological, chemical and physical processes of the Earth - learning how the complex systems of the planet operate, the relationship between man and nature, and how to design systems that minimize human interference and restore nature's sustainable ecosystems.

Upon graduation, you will be ready to hit the ground running in a career as an Environmental Scientist within local and state conservation or environmental protection agencies, performing investigations in conservation biology, forestry, fisheries and atmospheric sciences. Plus, many of our students develop a passion for an advanced degree in geographic information systems (GIS), ecology, conservation biology, natural resource management, environmental biology or foresty, and move on to graduate school straight after Lewis. Learn more about your career options with an Environmental Science degree.

Most commonly taken as part of a double major or along with multiple minors, the Environmental Science, B.A. is designed for students who plan on working with non-profits, or plan to study Environmental Law. This degree does not require coursework in Biometry, Organic Chemistry or Calculus.
