For students who already hold a bachelor’s degree but lack some of the prerequisite coursework required of Medical Schools and their respective entrance exams, the Biomedical Science program from Lewis University offers the perfect academic preparation.


More and more Medical School students are coming out of programs just like this, looking for the academic and transcript preparation required to enter the Health Professions program of their choice and fill a critical demand in the medical field.

This program serves as a springboard not only for those looking at the MCAT exam and Medical School, but those looking to enter any higher-level health profession education fields, including Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry and more.

Students who aspire to enter medical school or pursue graduate-level education in the health sciences may complete a certificate program in lieu of the Bachelor of Arts with 32 semester hours of advisor-approved coursework from major-level offerings in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.  All laboratories associated with lecture courses will be required. 

The Biomedical Science program from Lewis University will help students prepare for the next step in their education by giving them the tools they need to become more competitive for entry into medical, dental or other professional schools. In addition, the faculty and staff will provide guidance to assist students with applications and interview preparation.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
