The mission of the Education Department at Eastern Connecticut State University is twofold:
1) To prepare reflective, responsive professional educators with evidence-based teaching skills and strategies to support students in their learning and development in a global community, and
2) to advocate for best practices for all students in diverse educational environments.
The Education Department prepares graduates for teaching positions in a variety of educational settings, from early childhood through elementary and secondary education through undergraduate and graduate certification programs.
Candidates gain competence and skills in pedagogy; academic content areas; educational technology; and knowledge integration, while also demonstrating how to create learning environments that support student diversity. Professionalism and alignment with institutional, state, and national standards are also emphasized in the program. Faculty members also offer a wide variety of on-campus and online graduate courses and programs for teachers to further develop their knowledge and teaching ability.
Eastern’s teacher preparation program is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

This programme may require students to demonstrate proficiency in English.
All Education teacher candidates must be formally admitted to the Teacher Education Program. Students may not enroll in professional preparation courses until after admission to the program.
The Department of Education has established a committee of faculty members, the Committee on Admission and Retention in Education (CARE), which is responsible for this admission process. This committee also monitors student progress after admission.
Students interested in teacher preparation programs must apply to CARE at least one semester prior to enrolling in professional preparation courses.
Students from the New England states (NERSP): $ 6,559/ semester.
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
The mission of Eastern’s Financial Aid Office is to provide all current and prospective Eastern students with the necessary financial aid information, guidance, and timely monetary assistance to support them in their pursuit of a college education.
The Financial Aid Office at Eastern Connecticut State University assists students and parents who might not otherwise be able to afford the student’s educational expenses.
International students who are admitted to Eastern Connecticut State University are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship that ranged from $6,000-$9,000 per year.
