Overview

Sonography is a non-invasive medical procedure that uses the echoes of high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to construct an image (sonogram) of internal organs or body structures.

The Biology Pre-Sonography program offered by Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is a four-year course of instruction that provides a Bachelor of Arts in Biology Pre-Sonography. Saint Mary's is affiliated with the sonography training program at the highly regarded Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences where students have the option to complete a clinical internship.

A diagnostic medical sonographer is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized equipment to create images (sonograms) of structures inside the human body. Physicians interpret the images to make a medical diagnosis.

A completed application. Saint Mary's has an online application and also accepts the Common Application.

Official high school transcript

Official test scores - ACT, SAT, or Classic Learning tests are accepted.

An essay or brief personal statement. In 250 words or fewer, please tell us about: a significant experience you've had, an accomplishment or risk you have taken, a person who has made a difference in your life, a topic of concern to you, or anything else you think would help us learn more about you. You can also choose to submit a graded paper or write something new!

Letters of recommendation are optional.
