Fontys Music and Performing Arts is an ambitious and innovative Conservatory of Music programme. Our vision is based on the idea that your individual musical development into a top musician can only flourish through practice.

Programme Structure

What are you going to learn:

At least 4 hours of instrument classes a week - Individual lessons, group lessons, technique and ensemble.

Showcase your talent during the many performance opportunities. - Learn to perform on different stages: from concert halls to public spaces.

Adapt to the ever-evolving music industry. - Within our Academy, we foster connecting music with state-of-the-art technology and motivate you to collaborate with other art forms like dance, circus, and visual arts.

Ensemble lessons

Main subject classes (one-on-one with your teacher)

Music theory

Cultural theory

Co-creation (collaborate with students from other disciplines like dance, circus, and visual arts)

Project weeks

Entrepreneurship

Classical singers have courses in languages (IPA, French, German, Italian). Both classical and jazz singers have actor training and lessons in theatrical improvisation.

Lecturers

At Music and Performing Arts, you will get lessons from (guest) teachers that are specialized in your musical instrument or musical direction.

To enter this study programme, you need a certain level of musical knowledge. You can showcase your talent during the auditions. Depending on where you live, you have a physical or online audition where you can present your skills. In addition, you have a theory test. The specific assessment varies per main subject. In addition, you should prove being in possession of a diploma of higher secondary education, as well as having sufficient English proficiency.
