Majoring in Religion at Wofford takes a pluralistic view of religion and the study of religions. It does not mean that you spend all your time reading the Bible and learning about Christianity. While you will study both the Bible and Christianity, it is just one of the many religions and sacred texts that you will be exposed to during your courses.

You will use a variety of approaches to examine religions that include Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Christianity. You will also learn the difference between participating in a religious tradition and understanding one, which will allow you to critically examine the religions you study.

At Wofford your upper division courses will be spread across four groups: The Bible, Theology and Ethics, Religious Traditions, and Theory. You’ll take at least one course from every group in order to give you a chance to experience some of the different aspects of studying religion in an academic sense.
