Overview

Biochemistry is the study of the structure, composition, and chemical reactions of substances in living systems.  It focuses on the scientific study of the chemistry of living systems, their fundamental chemical substances and reactions, and their chemical pathways and information transfer systems, with particular reference to carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids.  Students interested in the field study such topics as how living things obtain energy from food, the chemical basis of heredity, what fundamental changes occur in disease, and the production of pharmaceutical products.

General Requirements

  • Completed Common Application or completed Universal Application with Universal College Application supplement 
  • Essay/personal statement
  • Letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor
  • Secondary school report, also from your guidance counselor. This tells Bryant about your high school, how many students it has, the types of courses they teach, and so on.
  • Official transcript showing senior courses and most recent grades. Minimum of 16 units must include:
  • 4 years of English
  • 4 years of math
  • 2 years of language 
  • 2 years of social science
  • 2 years of lab science
  • 2 years of additional academic discipline (math, language, etc.)
