The Bachelor of Science in Biology at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania major requirements for all degrees are similar in the first two years, allowing students to switch between degree options and to readjust career objectives.
All degrees are designed to prepare the student for success in the job market or pursuing advanced studies. The biology programs also prepare students for a variety of health careers including pre-medical, pre-veterinary, prechiropractic and pre-dental. The necessary training to pursue other careers in the health sciences is also available through the pre-professional programs. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.
Ultimately employers and graduate schools are both interested in productivity. Employers and graduate schools value the same qualities, but place different priorities on them. Employers need productivity immediately, so they are most interested in skills and experience, whereas graduate schools are more interested in long-term potential.
Clarion graduates with a B.S. in a field of biology have the option of working immediately, going on to graduate school for an M.S. or Ph.D., or attending professional schools in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, chiropractic and others.
