Overview

Integrated Social Studies Education from Youngstown State University (YSU) is designed to prepare you to teach social studies in secondary schools. In this program, you'll get an overview of the disciplines that make up the social sciences in order to teach them in your very own classroom.

In this program, you will concentrate on geography, history, political science and economics coursework. Your coursework will begin with a First Year Experience course that will provide you with everything you need to know about YSU and the Integrated Social Studies Education program. You will complete an Introduction to Education class where you will have an opportunity to tutor high school students.

  • Complete online application form, please check the notes.
  • A nonrefundable $45 (US) application fee. 
  • Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. 
  • Submit a high school transcript and American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores.  
  • Applicants must have a high school grade point average of 2.00 or higher on a 4.00 point scale, have an ACT composite score of 17 or higher, or a combined SAT score of 920 or higher from the evidence-base writing and reading test, and the math test to be admitted unconditionally.
  • Proof of English Proficiency.
  • Photocopy of passport page showing Photo, Name, Date of Birth, citizenship, etc.
  • Affidavit of Financial Support Form
  • Supporting Financial documents, e.g. bank statement.
