Overview

After finishing the foundation courses in the Environmental Studies program at Christopher Newport University, students in the bachelor of science program select their major area and take upper-level courses that further develop critical-thinking skills and field techniques.

After Graduation

Our graduates go on to be sought-after laboratory and field scientists, wildlife biologists, forensics experts, and state or government biologists, among other careers in science.

Biology majors are also well prepared to continue their education at top graduate programs and medical schools. Many graduates enter Christopher Newport’s MS program in Environmental Science or the Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Both offer a five-year option as well as a traditional master’s program.

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks.

  • Virginia In-State Tuition Rates Eligibility You must complete all questions in the Residency and Parent/Legal Guardian Residency sections of the application to be eligible for in-state tuition. 
  • Applying to the President’s Leadership and/or Honors Program
  • Select “Yes” for President’s Leadership Program and/or Honors program in the Academics section of the application.
  • Complete the mandatory essay questions.
  • An interview is required in order to be considered for these programs.
  • Submit your most recent official high school transcript. Paper transcripts are accepted, but we encourage electronically submitted transcripts. (Please note: Applications submitted through the Coalition Application will be reviewed using the self-submitted transcript information)
  • Have your SAT, ACT and/or CLT scores sent directly to Christopher Newport (unless you choose to apply test-optional).
