Are you interested in a program of study that allows you to pursue your interest in gender equity and social justice while developing the skills employers and competitive graduate programs desire?  In Women’s and Gender Studies you will examine the ways that gender – through its connection with other forms of power such as race, class, sexuality and national location – shape lives, bodies, institutions and worlds.You will also develop your analytical and critical thinking skills, and your ability to integrate and apply knowledge across the disciplines – skills that are needed to succeed in today’s ever-changing and dynamic labor market.

General Requirements

Freshmen who have attended secondary school abroad are expected to meet the same general admissions requirements as U.S. students.   

Academic performance in high school

  • Successful completion of secondary school program before enrollment at UM-Dearborn
  • Solid preparation in the traditional academic college-preparatory subjects is required (English, math, science, social studies), by pursuing a general academic (non-vocational) program of study - see specific requirements by country
  • Trend of grades and mix of academic courses will be considered

SAT and/or ACT test scores

  • The highest composite test score is used in the Admission decision

Language proficiency test (TOEFL, MELAB, IELTS)

UM-Dearborn offers many sources of funding each year to assist students with their academic and living expenses.  There are countless funding resources available from outside the university.  Students are encouraged to actively research all applicable scholarship opportunities.
