Overview
The Philosophy program of Bradley University prepares you to be a critical thinker and reader through small classes that generate conversation. You learn philosophy’s historical and current developments as you discover how to ask important questions and to understand why questions are often more important than answers. The department is one of the few in the country to focus on continental thinkers — those who ask “big picture” questions and connect them to other disciplines. The degree can be a standalone option, or it can be your emphasis in prelaw or health studies programs. It also works well as a second major in addition to business, communication, humanities or the sciences. Outside the classroom, you can participate in several philosophy-oriented campus clubs to network and sharpen your intellectual abilities.
Successful Outcomes
Bradley’s philosophy program successfully prepares you to enter the workforce or graduate school. Because of the logical and analytical skills learned, philosophy majors often outscore most other majors on graduate school entrance exams. In recent years, most students found jobs or continued their education within six months of graduation. They're continuing their education at universities such as the University of Chicago, Duquesne University, New York University and Southern Illinois University.
