Engineering technologists often work with engineers and scientists, especially in research and product development, building or setting up equipment, preparing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, or making prototype versions of newly designed equipment. 

Others work in quality control – inspecting products and processes, performing tests, and collecting data. In manufacturing, they may assist in product design, development, or production. In many cases, it is the technologist who takes ideas and turns them into reality.
