About

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program at Lawrence Technological University combines the best of electrical engineering and computer science.

Overview

You will learn the fundamentals of circuits, systems, and software associated with the design of programmable systems used for general purpose computing, communications, control, or signal processing. While the program offers a strong foundation in computer science and electrical engineering, you will study mathematics and physics, which broaden your knowledge and understanding of the computer engineering field.

Learning outcomes

Advanced Computer Engineering courses at Lawrence Technological University provide you with depth in selected areas and exposure to the practice of engineering design, and you can take specialized elective courses in several areas. Computer engineering students are also positioned to pursue graduate programs in either computer science or electrical engineering.

Computer engineers need expertise in both the hardware and software aspects of computer technology, as well as the ability to blend the two to create optimum system designs. With this in mind, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program from Lawrence Technological University offers you several courses that deal specifically with the challenge of integrated product design. In addition to the electrical engineering and computer science core, the program includes one math/science elective, two electrical engineering electives, and one computer engineering elective.

The capstone senior project spans two semesters and involves the design, construction, and testing of a computer-engineering innovation. Past student projects include building computer controls for a jet engine, a computer-controlled on-board tire inflator, a fire-fighting robot, and a keyless door-entry system.
