The Contemporary Music Business program from University of Central Oklahoma prepares students for a realistic career in the music business by pairing them with instructors who are actively working in all aspects of the music industry and encourages them to take advantage of those relationships to further their success. Curriculum

The ACM@UCO’s purpose is to provide practical learning experiences that help our students survive and thrive in today’s music and entertainment industry. The academy’s cutting-edge Contemporary Music Business curriculum helps students develop a formal understanding of how the music industry works as well as the necessary skills to navigate it. Contemporary Music Business majors will take specialized courses in artist development, music industry marketing, record label operations, and music supervision. In addition to this traditional coursework, students will explore the important roles of artist managers, tour managers, entertainment lawyers and music producers.

                              The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level.                               The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.                             Academic Requirements

                            Option 1: Admission Based on Grades From High School 

                            This option is for students who have already graduated, or will soon graduate, from an accredited high school. Student must show a minimum of 2.70 GPA. IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who do not meet the SAT/ACT test requirement will be required to take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) prior to enrollment into classes.  

                            Option 2: Admission Based on SAT or ACT Results 

                            This option is best for students who want admission before completing high school or do not meet the admissions requirements. To be considered for admission, you must obtain SAT: 1030 or higher combined critical reading and mathematics score ACT: 20 or higher composite score
