Overview

All Studio Art students from Adelphi University must satisfy the University’s General Education requirements, in addition to the requirements for the major. Students completing the B.A. degree in the College of Arts and Sciences must also satisfy the University’s foreign language requirement. There is no University requirement for a foreign language for the B.A. degree awarded by other schools of the University or for other bachelor’s degrees such as the B.S. or B.F.A.

Programme Structure

The Curriculum:Key components of our program include:
  • A two-year foundation program offering classes in 2-dimensional design, 3-dimensional design, digital art, drawing, color, and art history.
  • Studio art elective courses in digital art, design, ceramics, comics, collage, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and art history.
  • A comprehensive visiting artist program.
  • A chance to study abroad including Community Arts in Kosovo and Renaissance Art in Florence, Italy.
  • Opportunities to exhibit work in one of four university galleries.
  • Individual studio spaces for advanced students pursuing self-directed projects.
  • A mentor program in which students work one-on-one with faculty members to prepare for their thesis exhibitions.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
