Bellarmine University offers both the Bachelor of Music and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Music Performance. Voice majors take a one-hour private voice lesson each week plus a weekly master class during Vocal Area Assemblies. Upper division majors may also work weekly with a coach/accompanist in preparation for lessons and junior or senior recitals.

Both degrees focus on classical vocal training and offer instruction in singing other styles of vocal music as an integral part of the student’s training. In addition to solo recitals, voice majors are provided with a variety of singing opportunities including Choral Ensembles, Musical Theater Productions, Opera Scenes and opportunities to sing with various Jazz Combos. 

The Vocal Area is committed to the highest standards of excellence and offers quality performance opportunities to all students studying voice, regardless of their degree program.

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

General Requirements

  • A completed online graduate application.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline other than accounting.
  • Submit $40 application fee (unless Bellarmine University alumni/a)
  • Final official transcript(s) from each college or university attended should be mailed to the Office of Graduate Admission and should not be marked “Issued to Student.
  • Personal interview may be required.
  • Provide one letter of recommendation from a faculty member and/or supervisor who knows you.
  • Submit a type written response to the essay question listed on the application.
