Overview

The Cultural Studies Program offered at the Sabanci University brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars with a commitment to fostering new ways of analyzing and participating in contemporary cultural dynamics in Turkey and the world at large.

The program covers a wide range of topics and theories, but is particularly strong in gender and sexuality, nationalism and transnationalism, globalization, violence and trauma, memory, law, popular culture, and new media technologies.

Since the program's inception, Cultural Studies at Sabanci University has been at once an intellectual endeavor and a medium of public involvement and engagement, occasioning various opportunities for faculty and students to participate in social and political debates both on- and off-campus. The program's unique focus on critical pedagogical practice affords students the opportunity to carry out original research/writing projects.

The Cultural Studies Program at Sabanci University focuses on the area of culture. The objectives of the Program are to combine theory and practice in order to instill in students a critical perspective, creative thinking and active participation. Graduates of the program can work in the following areas: NGO's, media, film, advertising, public relations, human resources, art, literature, cultural criticism and cultural management.

  • The copy of the exam/diploma result(s) accepted by the University. 
  • If available, the copy of High School Diploma (if in another language rather than Turkish or English, notarized translation should also be submitted)
  • Official transcript, showing all courses and grades taken in the entire high school education, signed and stamped by the high school authority. (It is required to upload official transcript in the online application form)
  • If taken before, copy of language proficiency exam score accepted by Sabancı University
  • If available, 1 academic letter of recommendation
