Experience the excitement of sports medicine as you develop and execute therapeutic strategies to prevent injuries and provide hands-on, emergency medical treatment to the physically active.

As an athletic training major at Kean, you receive comprehensive classroom instruction and real-world clinical experiences in state-of-the-art athletic training facilities. You prepare to work with student-athletes, performing artists, professional athletes and people who are physically active to help improve their performance and maintain good health.

What You Learn

• You can continue the tradition of excellence in one of New Jersey’s oldest athletic training programs.
• Study general medicine, therapeutic interventions, functional anatomy and rehabilitation practices
• Develop and implement conditioning programs, analyze and encourage proper biomechanics and conduct proper fitting of protective equipment
• Administer first aid and rehabilitative treatment in real-world settings, including at nearby high schools
• Collaborate with health care physicians to optimize outcomes
• As an athletic training major, you will have the opportunity to work alongside world-class faculty to conduct original research and present your work at local, regional and national conferences.

After Kean

Graduates of the Athletic Training program at Kean University qualify to take the Board of Certification Examination. Under the governance of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, those students who pass qualify to be licensed and work as athletic trainers in New Jersey.
