Our Geology program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh focuses on undergraduate geology majors, and we take pride in our emphasis on field geology.

In addition to weekend field trips with most courses, we also run two field courses every year, one of which, summer Field Geology (344), is the capstone course and is taught in Utah.

Geology majors are strongly encouraged to pursue at least one research project in collaboration with a faculty member, all of whom have active research programs.

With a B.S. Geology degree from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, you will have a number of opportunities:

  • A job with an environmental consulting firm, an oil company, a minerals exploration or mining firm, or a government agency.
  • A job in a field that may not be directly related to geology.
  • Pursue graduate school in geology or another field.
  • With a B.S.Ed. degree and a major or minor in Secondary Earth Science Education, you could teach earth science in a middle or high school.
