Overview

Through dynamic coursework and a variety of field experiences, students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional characteristics to pursue careers or advance studies in Human Development and Family Studies, Child Life, Nutrition Education and Promotion, or Fashion Merchandising.

Today's FCS professionals practice in multiple settings.  They are early childhood, elementary, secondary, university/college, and Extension educators, administrators and managers, human service professionals, researchers, community volunteers, business people, and consultants who address the issues most important to our quality of life. Southeastern's FCS program is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks.

General Requirements

To be eligible for full admission to Southeastern, international beginning freshmen students must meet ALL of the following criteria:Must have completed a recognized secondary school program with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.35.Must have taken the TOEFL or IELTS *:

  • Minimum IELTS score required - 6.0 overall band
  • Minimum TOEFL scores required - 500 paper-based, 173 computer-based, and 61 internet based

Must have taken the ACT or SAT:
  • Minimum Verbal SAT of 450 or minimum 460 in Math (old format)
  • Minimum Writing and Language of 25 or 500 in Math (new format
