Introductory physics courses are designed to serve students majoring in many different areas. The algebra-based sequence is designed for students in biology and the health professions, while the calculus-based sequence is designed for students in physics, chemistry, engineering, or math.

Overview

The mission of the Physics program is to prepare students to succeed in their chosen careers after graduation from the University of Michigan-Flint. Recognizing that students will elect many career paths, ranging from elementary teaching, to industry, to graduate education, and others, the Physics program believes its mission is to help students gain a knowledge foundation based upon fundamental principles of classical and modern physics.

General Requirements

  • Submit your online application as soon as possible to secure your spot. There’s no fee, and you should receive a response within two to four weeks of receiving your documents.
  • Schedule and take your ACT or SAT tests as soon as possible. Testing should be completed around one year before you start your first term at UM-Flint.
  • As soon as possible, request to have your official transcripts from all previous schools submitted to the UM-Flint Office of Undergraduate Admissions. 
  • Your application to the university is your scholarship application. Admitted students are considered for Merit Scholarships based on their ACT/SAT scores and GPA.
