The B.A. in music provides you a solid foundation for a variety of musical careers, including professional performance, applied pedagogy, and academic study in history, theory, and composition.
The B.F.A. emphasizes performance on a musical instrument or voice and is designed to prepare you for a career in performance or a closely related field. You will receive intense, private lessons and specialized performance opportunities designed to help you attain a high level of technical proficiency and artistry.
Auditions: The audition for the Music program of Lock Haven University includes a performance of material which illustrates your ability. Results of additions are decided by LHU faculty members shortly after the audition date. Audition materials vary according to the performance area.
Premier Facilities: Most music instruction takes place in the Sloan Fine Arts Center. The multimedia lab includes listening stations and computers. An eight-channel master console connects to each student listening station in the room and allows you to enjoy, analyze, and study music. State-of-the-art sound and video equipment allow for instruction and recording, along with video capabilities in classrooms and teaching studios.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale.
