This (Hons) International Fashion Promotion course at Manchester Metropolitan University will develop your understanding and practical knowledge of business management communications in a fashion context, in addition to honing your creative skills.
Throughout the course, you will examine the online and traditional promotional tools used in the marketplace, by studying a wide range of subjects. These include fashion promotion, marketing communications, digital marketing, social media, website development, styling, fashion photography and journalism. You will also have the opportunity to go on study trips; previous students have visited London, Istanbul and Shanghai.

The main focus of this course is to produce graduates who thoroughly understand fashion promotion and the international fashion environment. Through the study of contemporary marketing principles and theory, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of business management and gain an appreciation of fashion products and brands.
This is a business course that allows you to develop your creative side and you will gain skills in interpreting and influencing current and future trends. You will also have the opportunity to undertake study trips to enrich your knowledge; in previous years trips have taken place to Shanghai, Istanbul and Paris.
In Year 1 of this degree you will be introduced to the background and underlying concepts and principles associated with international fashion promotion. You will gain an insight into the fashion industry as a whole from the viewpoint of the fashion marketer. You will also study digital design, consumer profiling and behaviour.
Year 2 builds upon the skills learned in your first year to increase your understanding of fashion promotion. You will focus on digital marketing and the impact of social media. A unit in Creative Fashion Direction will cover photography, creative writing and journalism, styling, fashion events, visual merchandising, packaging and print and digital media .
If you decide to opt for the four year sandwich route, Year 3 will be spent on a full-time placement, with opportunities available in both the UK and abroad.
In your final year you will be given the opportunity to develop your analysis and evaluation of international fashion markets, organisations and consumers in manufacturing and retail environments. You will cover social, mobile and multiplatform approaches from an international perspective and website creation and digital campaigns. You will also undertake a research or business project in a subject of your choice.
