With the flexibility and convenience of studying online and part-time, the Interior Decorating Associate Diploma from Toronto Film School will prepare you with the industry-based skills to become an interior decorator in residential and commercial design.


From home decor and staging to retail, workplace, event and set design, you’ll explore space-planning, hand-drawing and computer drafting, perspectives and rendering, lighting and furnishing, textiles and sustainable materials, as well as how to market yourself as a design professional. Over the course of the Interior Decorating program at Toronto Film School, you’ll build a professional portfolio that showcases your creative, technical, and business expertise in conceptual and applied design.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).     The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

To become a Student at Toronto Film School:
  • You must have an Ontario secondary school diploma (Grade 12) or its equivalent.
  • You may be asked to take a mature student test, if you are over 18 and not enrolling directly from secondary school.
  • You must meet the program specific requirements.
Interior Decorating
  • Starting your career in Interior Decorating is as simple as submitting a short essay.
  • We want to hear your thoughts on the interior decorating industry! Please submit a statement of interest (300–500 words) explaining why you are interested in a career in the Interior Decorating industry, including aspects of the Interior Decorating industry that interest you and your career goals. We’ll be looking for your passion about Interior Decorating, as well as any of your related hobbies, part-time jobs, and/or coursework. Please note, essays will not be returned.
  • In the essay, applicants may also identify a particular aspect of the interior decorating industry that interests them and/or state specific career goals and reasons for their goals. Applicants should present their statement of interest in a professional manner, paying attention to spelling, grammar and format.
