Overview

It’s the career point of entry requirement for roles in production management, operations management, estimating, sales and marketing, and general management in the sector. It will also enable entry into other sectors and organisations that require managerial and technical skills. The course will also develop your understanding of entrepreneurship.

The programme

The course encourages professional, managerial, technical and operations skills development. You’ll study both business and technology subjects. The business modules are similar to those delivered on a general business course. Technology subjects focus on the print and digital media technology sectors. These develop the breadth of subject expertise and appreciation needed to operate effectively in the industry. It has an Industry Work Placement in Year 3.

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks.

General Requirements

  • Applicants must apply through the CAO system. 
  • Applicants must have obtained a full award. A Component Certificate is not sufficient. 
  • The best 8 modules are used for ranking purposes for a reserved quota of places on a number of courses.
  • A major award may be accumulated over more than one academic year.  In such cases it is the responsibility of the applicant to apply to QQI for a major award where courses are taken over more than one year.
  • Applicants presenting full QQI Level 5 awards will not be required to meet minimum entry requirements based on Leaving Certificate results. The QQI Level 5 award is accepted in its own right.
