About

Civil engineers are involved both in engineering and in the organization of engineering projects. They are experts who combine technical know-how with ‘soft skills’, such as communication, project management and process management.

The English-taught Civil Engineering programme at University of Twente (UT) will teach you about all these aspects. Our programme focuses on three core themes: construction, transport and water. In learning about construction, you will study the functional design of structures and the management of the construction process.

Transport is about the combination of infrastructure, mobility and sustainable transport systems. Studying water and water management involves disciplines such as fluid mechanics and dynamics, and areas like water and coastal management, reservoirs, water flows and flood protection.

Careers

The Civil Engineering programme prepares you for positions that focus on building and construction, but also on the many organizational aspects involved. There is a great demand for people who feel at home in both areas – in The Netherlands and abroad. In the business world, demand for engineers from Twente is high. One hundred per cent of students who complete their Master's degree at the UT have a job within three months. Read more about the job possibilities.
