Prospective teachers must have many talents: You’ll have to demonstrate ability with knowledge and skills in specific areas and be able to convey that knowledge to others while demonstrating an appropriate professional disposition – and, of course, complete your required courses with satisfactory grades.

Admission to the School of Education at Manhattanville College is not automatically granted with acceptance to the College. Typically, you’ll apply to the School of Education during your sophomore year during while taking Fundamentals of Schools and Teaching (EDU 2000) or Foundations of Early Childhood Education (EDU 3017).

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

Along with your completed application, and nonrefundable $50 application fee, you will need:

  • Official transcript of grades (all documents written in languages other than English must be accompanied by certified English translations)
  • Two academic letters of recommendation
  • Personal essay
