What you'll learn

Capital's liberal arts tradition and General Education goals are central to our education program. This curriculum creates a broad context for learning; enhances your analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving and communication skills necessary for success; expands your knowledge and instills a thirst for lifelong learning; and refines your value systems and ethical standards to guide your decision making — in your profession and in life.

As you focus exclusively on your major, you’ll be taught by highly experienced and engaged education professors. You'll blend rich classroom theory with relevant and challenging field experiences as early as your sophomore year — either here or abroad through our Intercultural Student Teaching Program.

Where you'll go: careers and placement

We all agree children need the best education possible to become productive and successful citizens. Likewise, their teachers need to be dedicated and highly qualified.

That's why our teacher education program is competitive — so our graduates are prepared to meet the challenge of evolving classroom. To earn an education degree from Capital, you must apply and get accepted to the teacher education program; apply and get accepted to student teach; and graduate and pass the licensure exam in your chosen area(s).
