Overview
The University of Sydney Foundation: Extended delivered by Taylors College takes 59 weeks to complete and consists of two parts.
- In the first 19 weeks you will study Extended English, Australian Identity, and the Essential Computing Skills and Study life Skills Course, PLUS two subjects from the standard 40 week course;
- At the end of the first 19 weeks you must pass Extended English, d +, and meet the academic requirements of the Elective Subjects to continue with the remaining 40 weeks of the program.
Programme Structure
Recommended units of study
The Extended Program gives you the choice of five Streams, which will be dependent on the undergraduate degree that you wish to study:
- Science / Engineering and IT / Health Science
- Economics / Commerce
- Arts / Media
- Music
- Visual Art and Design
Each stream consists of a number of subjects that are relevant to the degree that you wish to study. In the Extended Program, there are two parts - the Pre-Foundation and Standard Program.
- First 19 weeks (Pre-Foundation)
In the first 19 weeks of the Extended Program, you will study Extended English, Australian Identity, and the Essential Computing Skills and Study Life Skills Course, PLUS two subjects from the standard 40 week course.
- Remaining 40 weeks (Standard Program)
Once you have completed the first 19 weeks of the Extended Program, you will join the Standard Program, where you will continue with the next 40 weeks.

General requirements
As a guide, applicants for the Intensive Foundation Program must have achieved superior grades in English and relevant academic subjects. Students applying for the Standard Foundation Program must have achieved at least average grades in English and relevant subjects. The Extended Foundation Program is designed for students who do not qualify for the Standard program, or who want to develop a more solid foundation in key subjects such as Mathematics or the Sciences. Forecast results are accepted where appropriate.
