The Applied Computer Science program from University of Winnipeg is designed to prepare students in the following core areas:

- Software Engineering (software requirements and design, software process, software project management),
- Operating Systems,

Our team-oriented courses are meant to strengthen communication skills, experience group dynamics, and foster self-confidence. The 4-year major includes the development of a team-based software project for a local IT organization.

Graduates are employed in a wide variety of positions in business, industry, and government in the areas of web application development, database application programming, database administration, systems analysis and design, project management, technical support, and quality assurance. Some pursue graduate studies in computer science, information sciences, biostatistics, or MBA programs.

General requirements
- Required High School Course(s): Math
- British Patterned Education - General Certificate of Education, with two subjects at Advanced Level and three at Ordinary Level, or three subjects at Advanced Level and one at the Ordinary Level. Secondary School Grade: C (with no mark below a D)
- International Baccalaureate – An IB diploma with 3 HL courses and 3 SL courses. For transfer credit or advanced standing, no grade below 4 accepted.Minimum points required: 24Minimum total score of 24 points
- English proficiency
- Students will still need to meet the English Language Requirements of the university. The admissions office has expanded the requirements to include the Duolingo English Test as an approved form of meeting English proficiency for September 2020 and January 2021. The required score will be a minimum of 115 on the test.
