By developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, becoming proficient oral and written communicators and mastering a foreign language, students in the International Business program of Valdosta State University are prepared for a number of professions on a global level.
The international business program is the newest undergraduate degree program offered by Valdosta State University’s Langdale College of Business. In addition to enjoying small class size and interaction with faculty members, international business students have the unique opportunity to gain practical experience by studying abroad. Each summer, Valdosta State international business students and faculty travel to Germany for a four-week program that includes a course on German culture, optional business courses and field trips to major German corporations. Back on campus, students may participate in Students in Free Enterprise, a prestigious student organization for business majors, and Beta Gamma Sigma, a business honor society for outstanding students.
The international business curriculum prepares students for careers in international business by exposing them to various aspects of business and foreign culture and language. Students develop basic reading and conversational skills in a foreign language, study cultural differences in relation to global business, and learn about international trade and other relevant concepts. Graduates are equipped with critical thinking, problem-solving, oral and written communication and technology-related skills within the field and may choose to pursue graduate studies or enter the global job market.
