The Bachelor of Arts, or BA, in Fashion Studies from Montclair State University program focuses on the evolving field and multi-billion dollar industry involved in the design, production, and sale of fashion products.


Students analyze consumer needs and learn how these needs are met by a complex and dynamic fashion industry, preparing for careers in apparel manufacturing, merchandising, management and/or marketing of fashion products and services. 

As a Fashion Studies major at Montclair State University , your curriculum includes courses in textile and apparel manufacturing, fashion merchandising, retailing, consumer action, marketing, administration, accounting and economics. 

You can also choose from a wide range of art-making courses such as figure drawing, fashion illustration, and costume and interior design. You will be able to gain hands-on industry experience through full-time internships and cooperative education experiences with a range of companies that develop, produce and promote fashion.

Career options:

Majors explore the many facets of fashion while learning to analyze and identify consumer needs and determine how a dynamic and complex industry meets these needs. Graduates pursue careers in fashion manufacturing, merchandising, management, and/or marketing of products and services.
