This innovative Biology with Enterprise, MBiol programme, from the University of Leeds, developed in partnership with the Leeds University Business School, provides a comprehensive understanding of the broad scope of biology and associated biotechnology together with the essentials of business and commerce.


Biology is the study of life, addressing the whole organism from molecules to entire ecosystems. You’ll cover the key areas of molecular biology, cellular biology, organismal biology and population biology.

This Biology with Enterprise, MBiol programme, from the University of Leeds will teach you biology that has impact together with an awareness of commercial opportunities, allowing you to implement your biological knowledge for the benefit of society across a wide range of employment options.

In your third year, you’ll have the chance to apply your knowledge and explore the potential of your ideas through an enterprise development project.

Our integrated Masters offers you an additional year of specialist training. You’ll be introduced to advanced topics and undertake an extended research project.

Biology is a wide-ranging subject that can take you into many occupations with companies in the private sector or as part of government institutions and departments. Biology with Enterprise leads to a similar breadth of careers that is augmented by knowledge of business principles.

Our students graduate into many different careers, including the pharmaceutical industry, agribusiness, conservation, environmental consultancy and education. Many graduates go on to specialise through further study such as a Masters or PhD.

Academic Requirements

General Requirements


  • A-level: AAA - AAB
  • Including Biology and preferably another science or science-related subject. If Biology is the only science subject then an A grade is required. Critical Thinking and General Studies excluded.
  • We accept the following science subjects: biology, human biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics. Science-related subjects: computing, environmental science, food science, geography, geology, PE, psychology, science in society, statistics, use of mathematics.


  • A-level: AAA
  • Including Biology and preferably another science or science-related subject. General Studies and Critical Thinking excluded
  • We accept the following science subjects: biology, human biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics.
