Mission

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at California State University Chico will educate each student to be a responsible and productive engineer who can effectively manage future challenges.

Goals & Objectives

The objective of the Electrical/Electronic Engineering program from California State University Chico is to produce graduates able to:

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to identify, formulate, and solve electrical/electronic engineering problems.
  • Use industry standard tools to analyze, design, develop and test computer-based systems containing both hardware and software components.
  • Achieve success in graduate programs in electrical engineering or a related field.

Student Learning Outcomes

Our EECE students should demonstrate:

  • An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
  • An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  • An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.
  • An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
  • An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  • An ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.

      PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

    Academic Requirements

    You need the following GPA score:

    Required score: 3

    Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

    Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

    Generally, applicants will qualify for consideration for first-time freshman admission if they meet the following requirements:

    • Have graduated from high school, have earned a Certificate of General Education Development (GED) or have passed the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE);
    • Have completed with grades of C or better each of the courses in the comprehensive pattern of college preparatory subject requirements also known as the “a-g” pattern (see “Subject Requirements”).
