The critical role educators play in shaping the intellectual and social development of students in their formative years (grades 1-6) is well-documented by experts in the field. Recent studies have shown that elementary school teachers can impact future student success or failure.


The program provides students with the professional knowledge and skills needed to teach children in the lower grades within an evolving, multicultural and multiethnic society.

Reflecting the University’s Vincentian and Catholic values, emphasis is put on sensitivity to varying cultural values as well as individual learning aptitudes.
