Operating Department Practice (Hons)

Overview

The Operating Department Practice (Hons) degree from University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) places great emphasis on practical learning so you’ll get to experience live clinical environments.

Working under supervision, you will help with daily duties, learning by observing, shadowing and practising.

You’ll have access to our state-of-the-art clinical skills and anatomy laboratories.

Future careers

With a BSc in Operating Department Practice you could work as an ODP in an NHS Trust or private healthcare provider in the UK.

After a period of employment as an ODP, some graduates have also progressed on to posts in education in universities and NHS Trusts, leadership and management posts in the operating department, Advanced Practice posts in critical care, and sales representatives. Some graduates have moved to work overseas and posts are typically available for ODPs in New Zealand.
