Overview
The college is recognized by the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council. Presently the college offers B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing. The B.Sc. Nursing four-year degree program which was started in the year 2002 with an intake of 50 seats in now expanded to 100 seats per batch.
An all-round academic and clinical experience is offered through classroom teaching, varied clinical experiences, conferences, health exhibitions, talks by eminent personalities and visits to various places. The experienced and stable faculty (37 postgraduates and PhD in various specialties) are a valuable asset to this institution.
The B.Sc. Nursing degree program is a four-year fulltime program comprising eight semesters, which prepares B.Sc. Nursing graduates qualified to practice nursing and midwifery in a variety of settings in either public/government or private healthcare settings. It adopts credit system and semester system as per the Authority guidelines with minor modifications suitable to professional education in a hybrid form.
The program encompasses foundational, core and elective courses. The choice-based system is applicable to electives only and is offered in the form of modules. Modular learning is also integrated in the foundational as well as core courses that are mandatory.
Aims
The aims of the Nursing program from Amrita University are to
- Produce knowledgeable competent nurses and midwives with clear critical thinking skills who are caring, motivated, assertive and well-disciplined responding to the changing needs of profession, healthcare delivery system and society.
- Prepare them to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare services in any healthcare setting.
- Prepare nurses and midwives who can make independent decisions in nursing situations within the scope of practice, protect the rights of individuals and groups and conduct research in the areas of nursing practice and apply evidence- based practice.
- Prepare them to assume role of practitioner, teacher, supervisor and manager in all healthcare settings.

General requirements
- Age : Minimum 17 years of age and maximum 23 years on or before 31st December 2022
- Eligibility: Must have passed 12th in the first attempt and with a minimum of 60% in English and 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent. NRI’s and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who qualifies from foreign universities will have to produce an equivalence certificate from the association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The candidates shall be medically fit.
- Selection for candidates will be based on the rank obtained in the Amrita Entrance Examination. Allotment of seats will be based on the performance for the counseling.
